Thank you, parents, for all of the time and effort you've put into making this year a success. As a small thank you, the teachers would like to honor all parents who volunteered throughout this year next Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30.  There will be food and coffee, fellowship and fun!  Please consider coming so we can thank you for making BCS such an amazing school.

Just a reminder that this Thursday at 9am we'll be having the 6th grade Coronation Ceremony!

Please meet in Taylor Swedberg's classroom, we will try to begin promptly.

If you are not able to attend, please let myself or Mrs. Aslan know so we can receive your child's box in your place.

Thanks!

Parents, tonight your child will be presenting you with a Gatekeeper Contract as part of our Relationships with Integrity curriculum.  Look it over with your child, sign it, and have them bring it back tomorrow.  Thanks!

Parents, we will be having a Civil War field trip Thursday, May 17th.  I've meant to send permission slips home every day this week and keep forgetting.  I'll get them home today, and I was hoping that you could get them back to me tomorrow or Monday.  I'd like to get all the details nailed down as early as possible because I'll be gone at a conference the two days before the field trip.  Thanks! and sorry for getting them out later than I intended.

This week is going to be a huge opportunity for those students who are behind on their website research to get caught back up.

The schedule for our research project is broken into three weeks.  One for research, one for writing, and one for web design.  This week, we are moving on to the writing section of the project, but some students aren't finished with the research phase yet.  The good news is that since we have SATs this week, we will have less homework than normal so students will have more time to do catch-up research at home.  Also, we won't be working on our website every day, so if students are behind they have extra out of class days to catch back up without getting behind as fast in class.

To know if your child might need a little nudge at home, just ask to see their gathered information so far.  You can also look at the mid-research reflection blog post and ask them how each of the items on that list is coming along.

The purpose of the SATs is to give the school information on how we are doing and to help each students wee areas of strength and areas for goals.  It is not something that goes on the report card, but each student should certainly do their best.

Make sure your kids come to school with:
- a good night's sleep
- a healthy snack
- a few sharp number 2 pencils
- a book to read if they finish early
- a calculator
- a ruler with inch and centimeter markings

BCS will be hosting an internet safety class for parents Tuesday, May 1st.
