Make sure to check out your reading blog for comments!  I just finished reading through them and giving feedback.

Tomorrow, (Thursday) we will be typing out our three final drafts of our poetry.  As you come to final draft form, please remember to meet these expectations.

Take some time to fill out the following poetry survey.  Parents, don't be shy!  Please feel free to fill this out as well.  It will be nice to get some more perspective!

Go to the form here.

Don't forget!

This is a video Austin, Shania, Jacob, Andrew, and Stephanie worked together to create.    It is definitely not for the faint of heart.  So if you think you're up for it, crank up the volume, quite down those around you, and enjoy!

Here is a quick preview of the video game Bryce, Conor, and Josiah made for the last chapter of A Long Way from Chicago.

This one might be controversial, but I wanted to share it because I think great conversations and self-awareness can come from it.

Yesterday we started reading a new book called Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.  Parents, it is an amazing book on so many levels and I strongly recommend that you read it along with your kids.

One of the major themes in ROT,HMC is racism, and so to kick things off I wanted to do a little science experiment.  This weekend, the optional assignment for students and parents is to take this implicit association test for race.

Perhaps not surprisingly, after taking this test most Americans show a moderate preference for white people over black people.  Even black people show a moderate preference for white people.  Why do you think this is?  What are your results?  Do you think they are accurate?  What happens if you take the test again?

The rule about taking this test is that students must take it in the presence of their parents.  It asks for some personal information and I only want students to enter it if their parents are present and approving.  If you don't want to enter your child's information, maybe you could enter the information pertaining to the parent.

We'll let people volunteer to talk about their results on Monday if they so chose.

To take the test, click here.

Here is a video to help you navigate to the testing area:

Okay.  Here we go!  I've included four videos to help you set up your Reading Blog.  You may not need to watch any of them, but if you get confused, hopefully these will answer your questions.

4.  How to Make the "My Books" Widget
