Be sure to check out Basmati today.  I just uploaded the History tests from yesterday.  Also, be looking for History tests to come home.  If you check it out and sign the top, it is worth 2 extra credit points for your child.

By this point, your child probably has activated their own Gmail account.  Some of you created it with them, and some of you let your kids create it in class.  Either way, be sure to check with them over the long weekend and get their username and password so you can have access to what they are doing online.

Yah!!!

Here is a quick video to review how to use Google Docs to work on projects from school and home.

Firstly, let me publicly thank Mrs. Dixon for helping with grading all the spelling tests this year.  Not having to grade those myself will allow me to have about one extra planning period every week, which is unbelievably helpful.  So, again, THANK YOU.

Now, a couple of you have come to me and asked if there is anything else you can do to help, and the answer is yes!  About three times a trimester we will have History tests to grade.  They are very straightforward fill multiple-choice, fill in the blank type tests and having a parents grade them will again free up about one planning period for every batch.

If this is something you are interested in, please let me know ASAP and I'll get you set up.  Also, don't forget paper grading goes toward your parent participation hours.  Thanks for everything!

Focus

10/1/2010

Earlier this week I wrote that one way to study for a test is to focus.  In other words, stop trying to multi-task.  It isn't possible and it negatively effects your learning.  Here's a video that explains the impact trying to multi-task.  About 1:15 in you actually see some interesting facts and expert testimony.

Why We Sin

This year, the male teachers at BCS will be reading through John Piper's Future Grace.  I started it last night and on the first page, came across a great insight.

Piper wrote, "Sin is what you do when your heart is not satisfied with God.  No one sins out of duty."

Wow.  Think on that for the weekend.
