I just read Dooley and the Snortsnoot, by Jack Kent. I finished this book on September 13th, 2010. It is about a boy giant named Dooley who has to defeat a snortsnoot to save his friends, grow into a full-size giant, and prove to himself how brave he really is.
I think the author wrote this book because he wanted to teach his readers that bravery is important. For example, Dooley's father tells him that the important thing about giants isn't how big they are it's how brave they are. Also, the way Dooley saves his friends and grows into a full-sized giant is by standing up to a really mean monster called a snortsnoot. So Jack Kent shows that bravery is important because bravery is not only the thing that Dooley wants the most, but it is also what saves him and his friends.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I think the pictures are great and the story has a good lesson. Also, I have a strong personal connection to this book because I read it and loved it when I was a little kid.
Today we will be creating the first section of your student websites. Please follow Mr. Swedberg's instructions in order to complete the following three tasks in this order:
1) Sign in to your new website and follow the setup directions
2) Create a new "Reading Blog" page
3) Fill out the form below with the address of your Reading Blog page so Mr. Swedberg can know where to find the Reading Blog page.
If you finish all these tasks, you may use any extra time you have to play around with the design of your website, or you can work on your "I Am" Hand back in the classroom.
Hello parents and welcome to our classroom website. This will be a place to check daily for timely updates from Mr. Swedberg about what is going on in the classroom.
Be sure to check back often these first couple weeks of school as I take some time to guide you through how to find important information and tools.
Also, please take a second to say, "Hi," in the comment section of this post!
